Closest Town
Port Alfred is about 20 minutes from the hotel.
ATM
There is no ATM at the hotel – the closest would be in Port Alfred.
Internet
The hotel has no facilities for guests. We did consider having a wifi-room setup, but we could not justify the costs involved. There will be 2 computers at the registration table with internet connection via 3G cards. Delegates would be able to reserve 30 minute slots for reading emails – at no cost. This service is not really provided for extensive web browsing.
Sunset Cruise
The sunset cruise leaves from the Halyards Hotel in Port Alfred at 17:00. We plan to leave as a group from the Fish River Sun at 16:30 (using own transport or lifts from fellow delegates). As you enter Port Alfred from Fish River / Mpekweni, the Halyards is on your left, next to the marina complex. Go to reception of the Halyard for directions please.
After the buffet up river, we should start the return cruise around 21:00. Prepare not to be at the hotel before 22:30 that evening.
The weather in the Eastern Cape is currently lovely, but it is known to sometimes change within minutes! I would suggest something warm for the cruise.
Gala Dinner
The theme of the Gala Dinner is “Out of Africa”. If you feel like dressing accordingly, you are welcome!
Media at Sessions
A PC and data projector will be provided at each venue. Speakers are welcome to use their own laptops if they so wish.
There will also be a flipchart and markers.
Please ensure that you are setup and ready during the break before your session.
Conference Registration
The registration fee includes refreshments in the morning and afternoon as well as lunch.
Checking into your room
At Fish River Sun you will only be able to check into your room by 16:00. Storage facilities for your luggage will be available. Enquire from reception.
On the last day, you need to check out of your room by 10:00.
Break away sessions
These sessions will be in venues directly next to each other.
