Artist

Artists express thoughts, feelings and ideas by creating paintings or drawings. They put ideas or images into concrete presentations. Some artists teach art in schools or other educational institutions or give lessons at home or in a studio.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
National Diploma: Ceramic Design or suitable RPL qualification. An aggregate of at least 65% in Design Technology III, Design Management III and Ceramic Practice III for the National Diploma is required in order to be considered for admission to the Bachelor of Technology: Ceramic Design.

National Diploma: Fashion or suitable recognition of prior learning (RPL).  An aggregate of at least 65% for the National Diploma is required in order to be considered for admission to the Bachelor of Technology: Fashion.  A 65% pass mark in Theory of Clothing III and Applied Clothing Technology III is mandatory.

National Diploma: Fashion or suitable recognition of prior learning (RPL).  An aggregate of at least 65% for the National Diploma is required in order to be considered for admission to the Bachelor of Technology: Fashion.  A 65% pass mark in Theory of Clothing III and Applied Clothing Technology III is mandatory.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
National Diploma: Fine Art or equivalent qualification with:

  • A 65% pass mark in Art Theory III (KAT3310)
    • A mark lower than this indicates an inability to assess and collate information critically and logically – an absolute requisite for research.
  • A 65% pass mark for Studio Work
    • This mark indicates an acceptable level of formal and technical proficiency within the student’s major discipline and a facility for creative resolution.
  • A 65% pass mark for Drawing
    • This mark indicates a basic ability to process and formulate ideas and concepts.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

NSC Requirements:

  • Admissions Point Score of 32.
  • Minimum NSC requirements for degree entry must be met.
  • English, Afrikaans or isiXhosa (home language or first additional language) on at least level 3 (40–49%).
  • NSC achievement rating on at least level 2 (30–39%) for Mathematics or level 3 (40-49%) for Mathematical Literacy.
  • Applicants with an Admissions Points Score between 22 and 31 may be referred to write the Access Assessment Test before a decision is made on whether or not to admit the applicant to the course.

Senior Certificate:

  • School Performance Score 27.
  • Senior Certificate with matriculation endorsement.
